manchester native alex coulton has nurtured a reputation for creating sub-heavy rollers thanks to 12”s for the likes of black acre, livity sound and bloc. with gamma ray burst, the next in his series of releases on london low-end specialists tempa, coulton consolidates his sound to deliver some of the most sparse, rhythmic work of his career. with the record’s title track, coulton weaves from hard-hitting kicks, through to dizzying tribal polyrhythms the whole time maintaining a minimal, space driven atmosphere that remains omnipresent throughout the track’s most intense moments. ‘ground zero’ revels in its spaciousness, allowing reverb to flood into the negative space between flashes of heavyweight techno percussion and saturated ripples of synth while the pulsating kicks that underpin ‘alpha decay’ are punctuated with bleak, discordant bells, rhythmic bass hits and hypnotic filtered percussion. showing his diverse abilities, ‘phase two’ is an exercise in measured restraint, as a cacophony of clicks and hisses come together to disorientate before forming a driving rhythm section before coulton maximises his expansive elements on the fog-tinged ‘ascent’. closing with the steady flowing, brighter-hued melodic work of ‘distant resonance’, alex coulton has created a masterful collection of experimental tech-focused electronica that bewilders, intrigues and will draw the listener in with each play.

“day of my death” by pavel milyakov, also known as buttechno, is his 8th release coming out this year. it consists of 6 pieces which were composed for gosha rubchinskiy s/s 17 show and performed in a extraordinary place in florence which is depicted on the front cover. mostly ambient, overdriving noise soundscapes and spoken word collages referring to the dreamy mood of the show. this work is more serious and mature than milyakov’s previous releases, exploring deeper and sacred images of his world.

following on from david morales appearance on the label earlier this year, rekids tap up shed and ryan elliott for a pair of percussive reimaginations. well known for remixes of the thompson twins, shawn christopher, clive griffin and the pet shop boys, morales red zone moniker was conceived during the def mix legends formative years at the renowned club sharing the same name. 50 weapons and monkeytowns shed adopts his head high alter ego for a remix that draws the originals vocals into the spotlight before planting thunderous kick drums beneath whilst dusty pads operate above. meanwhile, ostgut ton affiliate ryan elliott crafts a reimagination that incorporates breaky percussion, a rumbling low end and sweeping astral synths.

the first release on neon finger found dutch veteran dj overdose turning out a surprising blend of boogie on the techno hop lp, but for the second installment on the spanish label the remit proves to be wide as inkswel and lesser known the jungle sessions join forces for secret river. this meeting of minds, recorded on a raft of vintage electro-funk equipment, culminates in a perfect slab of sweet, low slung grooves for every boogie enthusiast to engage with. there are instrumental delights aplenty, but also some welcome vocal cuts such as the essential -sucka free- featuring john robinson on the mic.

sascha borchardt aka monoloc is a dystopic atmospheres fanatic that has dedicated his life to the dance floor from an early age. the frankfurt-born artist’s raw yet sleek take on techno and ambient has evolved to characterise his own musical style in his productions. monoloc’s sound is a mixture between techno, dub and ambient, nurturing a tone that is driving, groovy and low-slung, but with greater emotional range. he acquires most of his inspiration from old movies and likes to work mostly with field recordings in his productions. ‘the untold way’ on dystopian is his second album, following his first in 2012, and shows a notably matured development in the artist’s style.

eshone (donnie valdez) is a 31 year-old graphic designer, music producer and dubstep dj from albuquerque, new mexico now living in poland. eshone has performed in twenty states and several countries, including: canada, denmark, poland, the netherlands, and slovenia. donnie s earliest musical memories were his electric guitar playing days and listening to heavy-metal bands from twenty-five years ago. learning this instrument and listening to heavy-metal expanded donnie s musical horizons to signal processing and sound manipulation. armed with technical knowledge, donnie shifted his focus to music production in 2004, specifically, drum and bass. eshone makes tunes quickly because of his innovative production techniques and instant application of his craft. his frenetic production pace is closely related to his high-energy live three deck sets. donnie learned how to mix in 2003 and had plans on becoming a turntablist. currently, donnie prefers to mix and blend his productions, which focus on heavy basslines and anthemic grooves while keeping a dark vibe and gritty texture. donnie s love of nature and music gave him incentive to create his record label, elk beats. the elk is very similar to donnie s music, internet presence, and online persona: peaceful, present, and powerful. donnie enjoys spontaneous activities, such as: fly fishing, skateboarding, and snowboarding. his other passion is music, and eshone s productions are custom-made for large rooms with low-lights, loud sound systems, and an intense emotional experience.

with many new roads traveled over the last few years, the gaslamp killer is back with the full-length lp instrumentalepathy. glk will initiate his new imprint cuss records with instrumentalepathy. french surrealism artist albane simon designed the cover, supplying an array of psychedelic imagery that contains a brilliant sense of connection to glk’s music & the chaos he’s survived. instrumentalepathy features an impressive cast of artists tied closely to glk over his music career with brainfeeder, low end theory and beyond. guests include gonjasufi, miguel atwood ferguson, niki randa, kid moxie, mophono, amir yaghmai and the heliocentrics. it’s been over a decade since glk and gonjasufi have collaborated on new music, bringing the two natives of san diego back together for something truly special.

after a succession of new signings including recloose, tom trago and paul woolford - aus music return to their original roster and roll out another solid 3-track ep from label mainstay huxley who - in a monumental pairing - enlists the help of chicago legend roy davis jr. with a grand total of 8 aus records under his belt including his lauded lp blurred - huxley continues to return with a sound that typifies the label - intricate dance that music that packs power and emotion in equal measures. the rag & bone ep kicks off with do you feel me - a track that seed roy davis jr. and huxley meld moody synths with a tough, rattling low-end. a striking vocal runs over subtle flecks of acid and bending melodies that make for a pensive trip before weapon 3 dials carl craig-esque tension with rough, tribal drums and razor sharp sweeps. the dub of weapon 3 then mellows the tone of the original and rounds off a varied pack of dance floor bombs.

having previously turned out some refined club tracks for friendly neighbourhood label banoffee pies, christian jay comes to idle hands for his debut solo 12inch. as revealed in our past support of artists such as i.a. bericochea and matt karmil, an appreciation of the finer end of the minimal house and techno spectrum weighs heavy at idle hands hq, and christian embodies everything good about the micro-genre. the stylistic approach on this single is consistent across both tracks, fusing shuffling, 2-step fuelled drum patterns with blissful atmospheric content in a most natural of ways. on 117 this manifests in a more flamboyant end result peppered with playful hi-hat tones and delicate melodic licks, while on contrail the mood is resolutely low-end focused with some choice bass touches in amongst the tightly wound funk of the beat. what makes jay s efforts stand out is their immersive finish, using dexterous doses of dub processing to create a quintessentially bristolian mood while retaining the razor-sharp edges of upfront european minimal. its a tone that speaks to limbering up at the start of the party, or shaking down deep into the morning. that said, we could listen to this all day and night.

its the music of the space that extends between oceans and mountain slopes. its the music of the space that is much bigger and much more adventurous than the four walls of a club look like. its the latest record on acker, and it orbits around a song from il civetto. the band from berlin is a wonderfully multicultural bunch. their sound is reminiscent of gypsy, folk or swing, but at the same time it doesnt really fit any of these labels. liberté ana is a perfect example. monolink turns this track into a groovy downbeat tune that vibrates much higher than its low bpm count - the perfect soundtrack for laid-back afternoons or afterhours. pophop does what he does best: party. however, between the catchy bassline and the tight percussions of his remix theres still a lot of space for the soul of liberté ana. umami goes even further and creates an ecstatic banger that has everything it takes to be played during the prime time on the dance floor.

massive mix alert! -it s party time tonight!- - nyc mix maestro mike maurro has turned in a storming, 14+ minute version of patrick adams classic -weekend- by phreek, a true blue club classic from 1978 (later covered by class action, sampled by todd terry etc) -weekend- was an absolutely huge paradise garage staple getting unlimited spins from larry levan during the club s lifespan, the definition of a -garage- record indeed. maurro s new mix rearranges and deconstructs the original version with so much style, respect and feeling, using unheard synth vamps, string sections, percussions and breakdowns pushing it into a whole new direction while retaining the feel of the original mix. the track is already electric in it s original form but here mike maurro pushes the energy levels right through the roof, birthing a fresh new mix of a stone cold classic! on the b-side we have the low slung funk of the new birth s killer -deeper-, released in 77 as a single on promo 12- this cut gets the mm mix treatment, with the intro extended and the drums brought fully upfront in the mix mike has teased out all the best parts of the original arrangement while managing to stamp his always unique style on this new version. this midtempo groover is pure soul all the way, one for the serious dancers that keeps rolling itself along into one of the most solid, funkiest grooves ever! simply put, another set of essential mixes from a modern day master! file under - *essential disco*

the inaugural release from raffaele attanasio’s letters from jerusalem represents a dark descent through various musical forms. the name of the label itself pays homage to jerusalem as a city and its metaphorical location at the center of the earth. the ep, then, is an extension of this imagery in its use of music as a descriptive source of the emotions that lie within man’s innermost recesses. credible threat, though ambitious in its breadth, is cohesive in its style and sound design: brooding, industrial, and percussive, this release is a shadowy and refreshing installment from a rising star in the underground scene.

increasingly known for his productions as much as his storied dj sets, eric cloutier approaches the studio with the same kind of precision that marks out his club and festival appearances. on this first release on palinoia he exercises a keen sense of control over playful elements, not least on lead track -heuristic-. the nagging lead synth may hop around the mix, but it stays locked on to a thoroughly focused undercarriage of drums and low end that suits the professional techno set. -ipseity- is lighter in its demeanour thanks to some calming pad tones, but the strong structure of the track remains. the release rounds up with the slower thump of -opprobrium-, surmising cloutier s attitude to the warm-up part of a serious, long-lasting dj set.

slow futur was the name of the live soundtrack of zombie zombie for a juggling company. an add project that we decided to release some months ago, consisting in 4 tracks of 15 minutes. we were suprisingly sold out very quick. so we decided to give that record a longer life having some new mixes of one the track : hyperspace. tolouse low trax is all around the place at the moment. the amazing resident dj at salon des amareurs in dusseldorf provides a kind of sleazy remix here,that never really starts but subtlelly evolves while i:cube brings it in the dub territories, in a lush mood. enfin, gilb r provides a little reprise,putting the percussions in the front for a tropical effect.

*isigude (pronounced - e-see-goo-de... meaning bird of paradise) is a newly founded record label based in athens, greece. for our debut release we have dug deep into the archives of greek jazz fusion to unearth and reissue some obscurities from the catalogue of esteemed composer michalis rakintzis. rakintzis should need no introduction to greek ears, widely recognised as a celebrated composer and lyricist since the 1980s with his career taking in more than 20 personal albums, numerous singles and several high profile collaborations. his composition “arrest”, lifted from 1988 s ost to the film -lifelong- was selected and included on the hugely popular greek music compilation -into the light- in 2012. for isigude s first 12- vinyl release we draw our focus to the 1987 track “i don’t believe” featuring vocalist eleni dimou. -i don t believe- combines pop, rock and eastern melodies and feelings and sold more than 100.000 on it s original release. featured here in remixed form by up and coming greek producer zaq (a.k.a img_02) the original composition is reimagined and the result is a low tempo dreamy, balearic disco burner with dimou s lyrics expressing her disbelief in love, beautiful moments, oaths and sacrifices, with her requesting to be set free. a truly beautiful and tasteful reimagining of a lost rarity, the perfect way to launch the label.

hailing from bucharest, romania the vinyl speed adjust duo have been rapidly on the rise as producers and djs over the past few years with a back catalogue boasting material on pressure traxx, gilesku records, colours in music and visionquest where they return to here, as well accolades from leading industry names such as ricardo villalobos, raresh and rhadoo. here we see the pair back on fine form for visionquest following their carpe diem ep on the label in 2015 and taking the lead is title track retro which sees things taken down a percussive led path via modulating pot drums, murky bass flutters and screeching atmospherics. det riot follows and ups the energy levels with robust rhythms and stuttering vocal chops running with subtly unfolding arps, and further howling expansive swells hidden in the depths of the record before stretch souls rounds things off, closing with tumbling organic percussion, soft pad sweeps and a rumbling low end drive.

san francisco-based butane makes his debut on jamie jones hottrax with three hypnotizing productions this october. founder of alphahouse and little helpers, andrew rasse aka butane has been building a solid reputation as a respectable dj, producer and label owner for over a decade now. when not releasing his low-slung dancefloor focused cuts on his own imprints the multifaceted american has made appearances on sci+tec, crosstown rebels and moan. he now appears on hottrax joining a roster spanning waff, patrick topping, mat.joe, bunte bummler, raumakustik, dms12 and jamie himself. a gentle thud initiates addicted, making way for a throbbing synth that warps and distorts throughout the mix whilst a fuzzy bassline operates beneath it. lock and key focuses on intricate percussion whilst dusky atmospherics and a medley of nuances are introduced throughout before shark attack concludes the package with a rumbling low-end and compelling groove.

hailing from lithuanian capital vilnius, miskotom appears on pleasure unit for a debut appearance that should appeal to all lovers of delicate, pop flecked house with a smooth 80s veneer. the production is perfect for the mood of the music, with the dusty groove of the title track embellished with eastern flute motifs and larry heard chords of the sweetest melancholy. - downtown - meanwhile revels in slap bass finery, and -tempelhof kite- gets a rubbery moog tone in the low end that offsets the woozy pads beautifully. kito jempere comes on board for a remix that dubs -tempelhof kite- down into a warm and sexy house cut of the highest order.

the bobby donny label hits number four with a first ep of 2016. after efforts from label owner frits wentink and eindhoven producer san2, this one comes from tlim shug. the low-profile american producer has only one ep to his name so far, but it was an impressive one that came on echovolt records last year and suggested he has a passion for moody and lo-fi deep house.

royal athlete records are back with another set of party bombs, lovingly curated to achieve maximum perspiration. heading up side a is dreamers by uk s chaconne. a certified disco-piano-banger, recalling 80s nyc hedonism and emotion. (the real) kent clark, who so far has only one release on bordello s riviera disco series follows up with an electro-boogie dub workout entitled make it right . our man in holland: aux tha masterfader, takes us back to the old-school with the linndrum breakdance beast, let s dance to the beat ... he commands, we obey. closing up is dilemma, who recalls the memory of the early days of belgium s debauched nightlife with searing leads and low-motion grooves in bocca nights .

escorting sarah hit the ground running with ‘elephant in my box’, its low slung cavernous kick drum making a serious statement of intent before the the track’s grimy synth pushes forth to serve up some deliciously sleazy warehouse vibes. ‘pov’ ups the dirt considerably, metallic shards of phunk permeate, their edges rubbed raw with distortion whilst ‘spank’ offers up a sleeker, but no less deadly, slab of techno weaponry.

niro perrone better known as simply niro, or easy to remember, alongside sibling and production partner elia perrone, has come a long way over the past few years stacking up releases on the likes of m50’s revered kimochi sound, sound of vast, memento and the dub, as well as releasing his debut lp on his unclear imprint. here though we see niro introduce a new chapter with his brand new label pads.
‘hands of shadow’ opens the release and sets the tone of the label from the very beginning with an understated melodic feel fused with raw percussion and a subtly evolving yet intricate structure. ‘inner space’ follows and wanders into dub territories with spiralling echoes, low-slung drums and ethereal atmospherics. title cut ‘pieces of you’ opens the flip side and lays focus on an infectious unfaltering groove via vacillating pad swells, sporadic jazz licks and a weighty 4/4 drive before closing cut ‘the spectrometer dance’ rounds it all off with some ambient vibes.

wolf dem is a live electronics duo from philadelphia, conceived in the fall of 2012 by two longtime djs who bonded over similar musical backgrounds and a mutual desire to explore the bleeding edges of electronic music. using drawing on a highly diverse range of influences, wolf dem grew from its original concept-what your dreams would sound like if you fell asleep in an old warehouse where someone had left a dancehall station playing on the radio- into a focused aesthetic, at once chaotic and hypnotic, sitting at the intersection of caribbean music, techno, noise, and field recordings. past releases include tracks for compilations on new low and great circles grcr-010, as well cassette releases for vague audio tapes and end result

experimental synth quartet survive’s sophomore full-length and relapse debut is a dark, sweeping exercise in analog synth mastery. the pulsating, 9-song instrumental release showcases immense diversity between tracks - rr7349’s compositions range from grim tom-tom thunder to space-age epics, pairing tense plodding grooves with meditative ambience and driving, rhythmic beats. inspired by idm and horror scores alike, rr7349 is simultaneously ominous and hopeful, tense and relaxed, percussive and melodic. additionally, two of the group’s members recently scored the soundtrack for the hit new sci-fi / horror show stranger things on netflix. rr7349 is a unique addition to the relapse discography, and unquestionably survive’s best work to date.

bristol duo outboxx return after a 12-month hiatus with their trademark low-slung house sounds, and another collaboration with vocalist and lyricist, naomi jeremy. with previous releases on fellow west country labels futureboogie and idle hands, outboxx debut here on hypercolour, completing their bristol label hat trick. sealing the release is a remix from detroit’s andrés, the prolific producer behind multiple releases on la vida and kenny dixon jnr’s mahogani music and kdj labels.

various artist ep collaborations 2 from unlock recordings, featuring tracks from label head solimano, bruno de vincenti, christian burkhardt, barem and federico molinari. gonzalo solimano first created the unlock recordings imprint back in 2004 as a platform to support latin american productions, and ever since then the buenos aires label has played host to the likes of guti, jorge savoretti and franco cinelli. the second instalment in the labels collaborations series, solimano now invites german producer christian burkhardt to join argentinian talents bruno de vincenti, oslo records artist federico molinari and fun records founder barem for a split release. first up is solimano & bruno de vincentis cut love nebulae which layers infectious percussion with gentle chord sequences and filtered effects. christian burkhardts doog then cuts in on a deeper and darker tip, with a low-slung bass groove and hypnotic pad sequences. up next is barems funk duck with its rolling percussion, staggered synths and a pulsating low end, before federico molinari rounds off the package with 2.014.2, blending dubby bass patterns, chopped samples and frantic synth spirals.

the martinez brothers cuttin headz returns with a new ep from the butcha, entitled 10001 and backed with two remixes from matrixxman. phil moffa aka the butcha is a new york city based musician, producer and engineer most notably known for his works alongside dj spider and anthony parasole for sublevel sounds / plan b recordings and alongside seth troxler for hypercolour. here we see him return to the fledgling cuttin headz imprint with his idiosyncratic take on raw, emotive house music following his destination void release alongside dj spider and brendon moeller last year. up first are two originals from the butcha, the first of which 99 prince st. lays focus on echoing atmospherics, snaking rhodes and shuffling dubbed out percussion while the latter, 6 hubert st. pivots towards an amalgamation an upfront organic rhythm alongside a weighty low end drive and wandering synth swells. to complete the package san franciscos matrixxman delivers two interpretations, firstly the acidized mix which as the name would suggest draws on squelching 303 lines layered over processed snippets from the original before the digital bonus transhuman mix closes on an arpeggio fuelled techno tip.

circus recordings boss yousef teams up with renowned new york producer harry romero on jamie jones hottrax featuring a remix from 8 sided dice founder alan fitzpatrick. liverpools yousef has cemented a solid reputation as a reputable dj-producer whos released on cocoon, desolat, bpitch control and defected, remixed the likes of chaka khan, sven vath, moby, four tet and carl cox, and is also the brain behind distinguished events brand and record label circus. meanwhile, harry romero has been a force within house music for over two decades, with appearances on ovum recordings, subliminal and suara, whilst alan fitzpatrick has done recent remixes for prime numbers, hot flush and hypercolour when not releasing regularly on drumcode, cocoon and duskys 17 steps. arriving on hottrax, the artists join a roster spanning patrick topping, waff, mat.joe and jamie jones himself. a purring bassline drives im behind you forward whilst intricate percussion joins echoing notes to generate a low-slung groove. recent fabric mix series inductee alan fitzpatricks remix then ups the tempo by utilising heady piano melodies and piercing stabs before yousef concludes the package with a crunchy solo outing titled tightrope that boasts energetic drums and stuttering vocal snippets

all aboard! spacepod, a low-key, late night funkadelic house anthem from magic mountain high. presented in the classic 12inch tradition, with an original mix as well as acapella, club dub, and (courtesy of move d) remix versions, this demented ode to mindflight exhales a bit of humor over the room, but also penetrates the dome with its lush, single-lightbulb groove and insane effected vocal manifesto. this is definitely one for the end of the night squad. join us in our spaaaaaaaaaaaceship! tip!

relaxer returns with the second installment on their eponymous label. heavy, virulent and filled with longing, relaxer draws us further into the artist’s fascinating & unique world. side a’s “hissing flora” unspools organically over ten minutes, its melodic tendrils wrapping around a corroded vocal atop a heaving low end. on side b, “weekend” drifts through a beatless mist, with flickers of venomous voices and crumpling synths that shine through drawn shades. “climate of fear” snaps the listener out their uneasy rest with stomping percussion, overflowing arpeggiations and keening harmonies.
